Dr. Ian Cohen founded the practice in 1977 after serving as resident and chief resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. He received his Bachelor's degree from Columbia University and his medical degree from New York University. His broad professional experience includes 2 years in family and community practice on the Apache reservation in Whiteriver, Arizona. Dr. Cohen is a past chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Waterbury Hospital Health Center. He is also a National Medical Associate to the La Leche League. Dr. Cohen has significant experience in gynecologic surgery including minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery utilizing the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System, vaginal reconstruction for prolapse and gynecologic urology for urinary incontinence. He is listed in "The Best Doctor's in America" and "Top docs" by Connecticut Magazine. Dr. Cohen helped establish the robotic surgery program at St. Mary's Hospital. He is married, the father of five grown children and the grandfather of ten.
